Water🔹 Sources Around Us


Water is one of the most important natural resources for all living beings. Every plant, animal, and human depends on water for survival. Without water, life on Earth would not exist. Around us, there are many natural and man-made sources of water that fulfill our daily needs such as drinking, cooking, farming, industries, and cleaning.


 🔹Natural Sources of Water

🔹1. Rainwater – Rain is the main source of fresh water on Earth. It fills rivers, lakes, ponds, and underground water reserves.

🔹2. Rivers and Streams – Rivers are flowing sources of fresh water. They provide water for drinking, irrigation, and electricity generation.



🔹3. Lakes and Ponds – Lakes and ponds store large amounts of water. They are also home to many plants and animals.



🔹4. Groundwater – Water stored underground in wells, tube wells, and hand pumps comes from rainwater seeping into the soil. It is one of the main sources of drinking water in villages and cities.


🔹6. Seas and Oceans – Oceans cover most of the Earth’s surface. Their water is salty, but with modern technology, seawater can be converted into fresh water through desalination.


Man-Made🔹 Sources of Water


1. Dams – Dams are built on rivers to store water. They help in irrigation, producing electricity, and supplying drinking water.


🔹2. Canals – Canals are man-made channels that carry river or dam water to farms and fields.



🔹3. Tanks and Reservoirs – People build tanks and reservoirs to store rainwater for later use.



 ∆  Importance of Water Sources


They provide drinking water to humans and animals. 

Water is used for agriculture to grow food.

Industries need water for production and cooking 


Conservation of Water💦 Sources

Today, many water sources are becoming polluted due to , chemicals, plastics,  Overuse of groundwater is also a serious problem. To save our water sources, we must:

Stop polluting rivers, lakes, and ponds.

Use water wisely and avoid wastage.

Plant more trees to help store rainwater.
